Technical Scoping Specialist – Permanent Full Time – SMD Forrestdale  

 

We are seeking a Technical Scoping Specialist to drive the efficient and timely delivery of Customer Funded Work (CFW) projects. This role is pivotal in managing, planning, and pre-scoping/scoping projects by ensuring customer readiness for construction and submitting the essential documents, validating design constructability, assessing site conditions, and confirming material and resource requirements. You will collaborate with stakeholders to establish delivery methodologies, network conditions, and electrical isolation parameters while minimizing third-party impacts. Your Role in Action  

 

  • Working independently and with minimal supervision to manage, plan, and provide technical guidance and scoping services, ensuring successful completion of the customer’s scope of work. This includes assessing design constructability, site conditions, task requirements, work methodologies, network conditions, electrical isolation parameters, third-party customer impact, as well as validating resources and materials to support efficient downstream delivery of customer projects. Conducting on-site meetings with customers and/or their representatives to establish common understanding and formal agreement of respective accountabilities and on-site requirements. 
  • Managing and influencing customers and their representatives of varying levels, from the end customer through to senior representatives from Local Government Authorities, small and medium enterprises, Government Agencies, builders and developersManaging their expectations regarding delivery timeframes and positively influencing their perception of Western Power. 
  • Determining the most efficient delivery approach for customer projects and understanding when specific customer needs warrant a different approach. 
  • Identifying all material & plant requirements utilising current engineering / WPM standards. 
  • Preparation of delivery packs including determining resources required (people, plant and equipment), and capturing all additional site requirements (e.g. Traffic Management, Access land maintenance issues, Permits, ESA inductions, rail, gas, etc.) 
  • Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of delivery packs to ensure the appropriate resources are allocated to projects for on time delivery. 
  • Identifying any safety risks associated with on-site conditions, electrical design and existing infrastructure. 
  • Providing information to ensure compatible units are aligned and maintained to current standards. 

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • An electrical trade qualification or Certificate III electrical line building or Certificate III cable jointing 
  • Level 0 ENAR capabilities 
  • A detailed depth and breadth of knowledge of both underground and overhead network assets and construction and delivery practices 
  • At least 12 to 15 years distribution construction experience 
  • Strong communication and customer skills 
  • Ability to translate engineering design drawings into deliverable packages of work 
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships to a middle management level within a corporate environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions under pressure while on site with customers 
  • Exposure to negotiation, conflict resolution and/ or managing customer expectations. 
  • Must be able to travel to remote areas & live away from place of residence. 
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
