Transmission Scheduling Program Team Leader - Permanent/Full time - South Metro Depot

 

This position is responsible for leading and developing a team of professionals, who are accountable for the optimal scheduling of a high-volume Transmission program of assigned Volumetric work bundles and/or projects.

 

This is to be achieved through providing technical leadership and advice to the team and ensuring consistency with business strategy, within set budgets and time constraints while meeting overall stakeholder expectations.

 

This leadership role is critical to ensuring clear expectations are set and that the team is held accountable for the required outcomes, including quality, delivery, and stakeholder satisfaction.

 

This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. Your Role in Action  

 

  • Accountable for managing the delivery / implementation of assigned work bundles and/or projects, including responsibility for ensuring that schedule, quality, time, and budget targets are met and for managing the associated risks and issues for a transmission program of works.
  • Accountable for providing clear technical advice, expertise and direction to the team and has overall responsibility for organising allocated resources to achieve required delivery outcomes.
  • Accountable for engendering a customer focussed culture that responds promptly and professionally to stakeholder requirements.
  • Initiate technical joint planning sessions with all relevant stakeholders involving multiple project managers and across the works program(s).
  • Maintain optimum utilisation of delivery resources to meet stakeholder milestones.
  • Provide a safe working environment and promote Work Health and Safety. 
  • Assist the Area Manager in building and maintaining a clear value proposition in line with Western Power’s operating model for the respective area. This will include efficiency and effectiveness through standardisation and improvement of transmission scheduling.
  • Maintain a constructive and consultative working environment through open communication and building effective relationships with stakeholders, with the ability to review work targets regularly and consultatively with stakeholders. 

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Professionally qualified in project or program management (e.g., PgMP, MSP).
  • Degree qualified in relevant focus areas (e.g., business administration, project/program management, contract management or engineering.) or Trade qualified coupled with Diploma of Frontline Management and significant relevant industry experience.
  • At least 5 to 10 years Project and Program management and/or transmission scheduling and/or other related technical experience preferably within an electrical or utilities environment.
  • Extensive experience in managing teams of multi-disciplined professional employees with strong organisational and technical leadership skills and proven program/project management experience as well as a detailed understanding of business issues.
  • Extensive program and project management knowledge and experience, preferably within an engineering and/or construction environment, including a high-level understanding of technical concepts that contribute to delivering the desired project outcomes.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage health, safety, and environment requirements.
  • An understanding of risk and compliance management and its application in the business.
  • Demonstrated industry knowledge and experience of scheduling and reporting tools.
