CATEGORY MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION, SERVICES & FACILITIES MANAGEMENT - PERTH CBD - PERMANENT

We are seeking a Category Manager – Construction, Services and Facilities Management to lead Western Power’s Construction, Services and Facilities Management Portfolio. This influential leadership role is responsible for shaping commercial strategies, overseeing contract creation and management, and delivering improvements in safety, service, quality and cost efficiency. Working across a complex contract portfolio, you will foster strong stakeholder relationships and ensure clear governance, accountability and alignment to achieve successful and sustainable outcomes.

Your Role in Action  

• Lead and develop a high-performing team across commercial, category management, sourcing, contract management and contract administration, fostering capability, succession planning and continuous improvement.
• Coach, mentor and empower team members to achieve their full potential, driving strong performance, engagement and professional growth.
• Develop and execute procurement and category strategies that deliver commercial value, optimise supplier performance and support Western Power's strategic objectives.
• Oversee end-to-end sourcing and contract establishment activities, including market engagement, tender management, commercial evaluations, negotiations and contract award.
• Build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships, proactively managing performance, risk, pricing and innovation to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
• Drive cost optimisation, operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives while identifying opportunities to enhance business performance and value.
• Ensure robust contract governance, compliance and assurance across the portfolio, including expenditure management and adherence to Western Power's Contract Lifecycle Management Framework and procurement policies.
• Partner with key stakeholders across the business to align procurement priorities, support demand planning, maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with safety, risk and regulatory requirements.

• Proven experience developing and delivering complex procurement, category and contracting strategies that drive commercial value and business outcomes.
• A strong track record in building and managing strategic supplier relationships that deliver value beyond contractual obligations.
• Well-developed analytical, financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to assess pricing models, identify opportunities and support informed decision-making.
• Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills, with experience leading high-value commercial discussions and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Sound understanding of procurement risk, governance and compliance frameworks, with the ability to balance commercial outcomes with effective risk management.
