Substation Operations Officer – 6-8 Months Maximum Term Contract – South Metro Depot

Our Substation Operations Officer will coordinate and allocate resources for the delivery of transmission switching services for customers both within and external to Western Power. Your role is to enable the effective and efficient construction and maintenance of the transmission infrastructure and commissioning of new plant in line with safety and design standards, including the updating and coordination of timely submissions of outage requests.

Your role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. Your Role in Action  

• Allocate on-call substation first response employees to maintain the integrity of the network.
• Coordinate timely submissions of outage requests
• Allocate resources for the delivery of transmission switching services for customers, to enable the effective and efficient construction and maintenance of the transmission infrastructure and commissioning of new plant.
• Provide technical advice on limits of isolation and switching operations
• Communicate and prioritise feedback to stakeholders and customers on project progress.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Possess Cert III (ESI Distribution / Transmission Overhead / Power Systems Distribution Cable Jointing) and/or Electrical Trade Certificate, and/or Current WA Electrical Workers License endorsed for Electrical Fitting.
• Alternatively if you do not hold any of the above qualifications, a Diploma in Project Management and solid understanding of the Network will be considered.
• Western Power Switching levels, eNar/Transmission and/or Distribution - desirable
• Technical knowledge and/or operational experience in the Networks business.
• Solid knowledge of scheduling and project management tools and processes.
• Previous experience in the effective and efficient allocation of resources.
• Technical knowledge of Transmission switching & outage techniques and practices.
• Sound knowledge of safety policies and procedures, particularly operating field practices and procedures applying to the power system.
